What happens next

  1. You send this form. It reaches ByteX directly and is stored securely.
  2. ByteX reviews it. ByteX provides scheduled, project-based services. Enquiries are normally reviewed within two business days.
  3. You get an honest first response. Sometimes that is a proposed call; sometimes it is a note explaining that a platform will not support what you are after.
  4. If it is worth pursuing, a discovery conversation is arranged at a time that suits.
Availability

ByteX works on a scheduled, project-based model. Consultations are typically arranged on weekday evenings or Saturdays, with email-based discussions available where preferred.

There is no emergency help desk and no 24/7 support. If you have an urgent outage, contact your platform vendor or IT support provider.

Enquiry form

Fields marked with an asterisk are required.

Optional.
Describe the process as it works today: who does it, how often, and what goes wrong. That is more useful than a proposed solution.
For example: Retail Express, Shopify, Xero, Microsoft 365, a shared Excel workbook. Knowing this early saves a round of questions.
An indication only. It helps shape a realistic proposal rather than setting a price. View indicative pricing.

Before you ask

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including to the questions where the answer is no.

Does ByteX work only with Tasmanian businesses?

No. ByteX is based in Tasmania and works with businesses there, but the majority of the work suits remote delivery and clients anywhere in Australia are welcome. Where an on-site visit genuinely adds value in Tasmania, that can be arranged as part of a project.

Can ByteX work remotely?

Yes. Discovery calls, systems reviews, implementation and handover are all delivered remotely as standard, using screen sharing and scheduled sessions. This is the normal working model rather than an exception.

Does ByteX provide emergency POS or IT support?

No. ByteX provides scheduled, project-based and appointment-based services. It does not offer an emergency help desk, guaranteed immediate response, or 24/7 support. If your POS goes down mid-trade, your platform vendor or an IT support provider is the right call, and it is worth having that arrangement in place.

Can ByteX integrate with every POS platform?

No, and any consultant who says otherwise is guessing. Integration depends on whether the platform offers an API or a supported export, whether your subscription tier includes access, and whether the vendor permits third-party integration. Checking this for your specific platform and plan is one of the first things done in a review.

Is ByteX an official partner of Retail Express, Shopify, Meta or Microsoft?

No. ByteX is an independent consultancy with no partnership, certification or reseller arrangement with these vendors, and does not claim one. Work is performed using publicly documented APIs and integration capabilities. The advantage of independence is that recommendations are not influenced by vendor commissions.

Can ByteX automate Facebook and Instagram posting?

In many cases, partly. What is achievable depends on your account type, business verification status, app permissions and current platform policy, all of which change over time. Where direct publishing is permitted, posts can be scheduled through supported integrations. Where it is not, the workflow prepares and schedules approved content for a person to publish, which still removes most of the repeated work.

Will social media posts require approval?

Yes, by design. Promotional and price-sensitive content goes to a nominated person for approval before publication. This is deliberate: an incorrect price or an ill-timed post in a public feed is expensive to undo, and approval takes seconds.

Can ByteX build a custom internal application?

Yes, where an off-the-shelf product genuinely does not cover the requirement. Small, focused internal tools are often the right answer for a specific operational job. Custom software carries an ongoing maintenance obligation, so it is recommended when it earns its place, not by default.

Can ByteX work with existing websites?

Yes. Performance, accessibility, content and integration improvements can often be made to an existing site for considerably less than a rebuild. A rebuild is worth doing when the underlying platform is genuinely the constraint, and you will be told which situation applies.

How is project pricing determined?

Pricing is based on the scope agreed after the review stage, and depends on the systems involved, the integration complexity and how much data preparation is required. Fixed prices are not published, because a figure quoted before understanding your systems would be either padded or wrong. The first step is an assessment, and there is no charge for an initial discovery conversation.

Does every project begin with an audit?

No. Small, well-defined pieces of work can start directly. A review stage is recommended where several systems are involved, where the requirement is not yet clear, or where the feasibility of an integration needs confirming before anyone commits to a build.

How does ByteX protect business data?

Access is requested at the minimum level needed for the work and for the shortest practical period. Credentials are held in a secrets manager or key vault, never in source control or a spreadsheet. Enquiry and business information is not written to logs in full. Where a cloud service is involved, its data residency and retention terms are reviewed before your data is sent to it. Specific arrangements are documented per project.

Can AI make decisions or publish content automatically?

Not in systems ByteX builds. AI is used to classify, retrieve, summarise and draft, with a person approving anything that is published, sent to a customer, or has financial consequences. AI systems are not always accurate, and designing as though they are is how businesses end up apologising publicly.

Does ByteX offer ongoing maintenance?

Yes, under an agreed arrangement with defined scope and response expectations. This covers planned updates, monitoring and scheduled improvements. It is not an emergency support service, and the difference is stated clearly in the agreement.

What happens if a third-party API changes?

It happens, and it is planned for rather than treated as a surprise. Integrations are built with logging and failure alerting so a break is detected quickly rather than discovered by a customer. Where a maintenance arrangement is in place, remediation is handled under it. Without one, it is quoted as a separate piece of work. Vendors can change or withdraw API capability at any time, and no consultant can prevent that.
