Practical use cases

Lead-generation website

Business problem
A business has an outdated website that does not explain its services clearly or produce qualified enquiries.
ByteX approach
Build a fast, responsive website with service pages written for the customer rather than the industry, calls to action that match where a visitor is in their thinking, and an enquiry form that collects enough to have a useful first conversation.
Expected outcome
Improved credibility with visitors who are comparing options

Customers need to browse products, but full ecommerce checkout is unnecessary or inappropriate.
ByteX approach
Build a searchable, filterable product catalogue fed from an appropriate source, with an enquiry or quote request against each product instead of a checkout.
Expected outcome
Better product discovery without the cost and obligation of a full store

Expected outcome
Reduced repetitive enquiries handled by staff

Website to business system integration

Business problem
Information submitted through the website must be re-entered manually into another system.
ByteX approach
Validate submissions server-side, then send the approved data directly into the supported CRM, database or operational workflow, retaining a reference so the website submission and the resulting record are linked.
Expected outcome
Reduced data entry and fewer transcription errors

Typical systems

Platforms this work usually touches

This is an indicative list, not a guarantee of integration. What is achievable with any given platform depends on your subscription, the available API and the vendor's terms, and is confirmed during the review stage.

  • ASP.NET Core and C#
  • Shopify and other hosted ecommerce platforms
  • SQL Server and Azure SQL
  • Azure App Service and Windows IIS hosting
  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Dataverse
  • CRM and enquiry management platforms
  • Booking, payment and email providers
  • Privacy-conscious analytics platforms

Delivery process

How a project runs

  1. Understand

We talk through the business problem and how the work is done today — who touches it, how often, and where it goes wrong. No obligation to proceed.

  2. Review

We identify the systems involved, confirm what their APIs and permissions actually allow, and set out requirements, risks and options. Some ideas are ruled out at this stage, and that is a useful outcome.

  3. Build

We configure or develop the agreed solution against a written scope, with validation, logging and error handling built in rather than added later.

  4. Improve

We test with your data, document how it works, hand over to your team, and agree what planned improvements or maintenance make sense.

Important limitations

What to know before you commit

These constraints are stated up front because finding them out midway through a project is expensive for everybody.

  • Search ranking cannot be guaranteed by anyone. The site can be built to be fast, well structured, accessible and correctly marked up, which is what is within a developer's control.
  • Integration with a third-party platform depends on that platform having an accessible API and permitting the intended use.
  • Content is the largest single factor in whether a site produces enquiries. Where a business cannot supply source material, drafting is a scoped part of the work rather than an assumption.
  • Ongoing maintenance, security updates and platform changes are covered only under an agreed arrangement.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you work on our existing website rather than rebuilding it?

Often yes. Performance, accessibility, content clarity and integration improvements can frequently be made to an existing site for far less than a rebuild. A rebuild is worth it when the underlying platform is the constraint, and you will be told which situation you are in.

Why server-rendered rather than a JavaScript framework?

For a content and lead-generation site, server rendering is faster on modest devices, simpler to host, easier to maintain, and better understood by search engines. A single-page application adds real cost and complexity, and should be chosen for a genuine reason such as a highly interactive portal.

Will we be able to update content ourselves?

That is a deliberate scoping decision. Content can live in structured files maintained by ByteX, or the site can be connected to a content management system or headless CMS if your team needs to edit independently. The second option costs more up front and is worth it when updates are frequent.

Do you build online stores?

For most small and medium retailers, an established platform such as Shopify is the sensible choice and ByteX works on the storefront and integrations around it. A fully custom store is rarely justified unless there is an unusual operational requirement.

Click & Collect workflow

Business problem
Customers can select pickup at checkout, but store allocation and order information are unclear once the order arrives.
ByteX approach
Capture the pickup location and customer details as structured data at checkout, validate the selection against what that store can actually fulfil, and route the order into the fulfilment process with the information staff need to act on it.
Expected outcome
Clearer store fulfilment, because each order arrives with the location already determined

ByteX approach
Create a structured menu source with the fields each destination needs, then publish approved changes to supported platforms from that one place.
Expected outcome
Fewer inconsistent prices between the website, the venue and online listings
